Google’s AI Chatbot Bard Ventures into Europe and Brazil: A New Chapter Unfolds Privacy and Rising Competition

Google's AI Chatbot Bard in Europe and Brazil

Alphabet Inc., Google's parent company, is making notable strides in the field of AI since it has launched its AI chatbot, Bard, in Europe and Brazil. This expansion is said to be one of the most greatest achievements through the point of growth of Google. This comes after the launch of Bard in the UK and US earlier this year.

The Rise of AI Chatbots

Generative AI models like Google's Bard and ChatGPT are increasingly becoming common players in the technological market. These advanced AI chatbots are not just another tech novelty; they are transforming how we interact with technology, bringing a new level of convenience and efficiency to our digital experiences.

Bard and ChatGPT are at the forefront of this AI revolution. They are designed to emulate human-like responses to questions, making them more than just tools—they are digital companions that can assist, entertain, and even educate. This human-like quality is what sets these chatbots apart from their predecessors, making them a massive hit among users worldwide.

The rise of these AI chatbots is also indicative of a broader trend in the tech industry—the shift toward AI-driven technologies. As AI continues to evolve, it's becoming an integral part of our digital lives, from personalized recommendations on streaming platforms to virtual assistants on our smartphones. And with the debut of Bard in Europe and Brazil, this trend is only set to intensify.

However, the rise of AI chatbots is not without its challenges. As these chatbots become more prevalent, they also become a lucrative target for cybercriminals. Ensuring the security and privacy of user data is a paramount concern, as evidenced by the privacy issues raised during Bard's EU launch.

However, Bard's launch in the EU hit a temporary snag when the bloc's primary data regulator, the Irish Data Protection Commission, cited privacy issues. The commission highlighted that Google hadn't adequately illustrated how Bard would protect European users' privacy, delaying the chatbot's EU rollout.

Google assures that it has since engaged with the concerned watchdogs, addressing issues related to transparency, control, and choice. Amar Subramanya, Bard's engineering vice president, clarified that users would have the option to opt out of data collection.

He somehow avoided to comment on the upcoming or rumored development of Bard app but stated, “Bard is an experiment. We want to be bold and responsible.”

Bard's New Features and Capabilities

While talking about the new features that Bard has had, Google has been known to enhance Bard by introducing new global features. The company has made new additions that include the chatbot vocalizing responses as well as the reacting to image-inclusive prompts.

As per the words of Google's senior product director Jack Krawczyk “You can collaborate with Bard in over 40 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, German, Hindi, and Spanish.” Users can also tailor Bard's response style, pin or rename conversations, export code to more places, and incorporate images in prompts.

The Investment Surge in the AI Industry

The AI industry is experiencing a substantial surge in investment, with billions being funneled into these potentially lucrative technologies. This investment surge is a clear indication of the growing confidence in the transformative potential of AI, and the belief that it will shape the future of numerous industries.

When we talk about the start-ups, even the companies like Mistral AI, which is not even a month old, have managed to secure an £86m seed funding. The company got this fund for developing and training large language models.

This remarkable feat underscores the tremendous interest and faith investors have in the potential of AI technologies. It also highlights the willingness of investors to back new players in the AI field, further intensifying the competition.

On the other hand, when we are talking about the greatest investments, a lot of controversy is also surrounding it. Let's talk about Google, which is currently facing a class action lawsuit in the US. This lawsuit has been filed over the alleged misuse of personal data of Google users, which was used to train its AI Bard.

According to the reports, Google's unauthorized use of data and the act of scraping the website have violated the privacy of many companies on a large scale. Along with that it even disses the property right.
